Winner Announced…

Thursday, June 14th, 2012

I assigned each comment a number, then used a “number from a hat” type method to choose our winner. Gavin chose the lucky winner…

 Barbara P.!

Her comment,

“My favorite cookbook is Cooking from the Farmer’s Market - There are wonderful recipes for cooking vegetables inside this book.
Thanks, GREAT giveaway!!!” was the comment pulled by Gavin today :)

Barbara P., I will mail your package out to you as soon as I have your mailing info. :) I am emailing you right now and will look forward to getting your cookbooks and special prize out to you. :)

Thanks for playing, all! More contests to come. :)

Quirky Cookbook Giveaway!

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012

Went through my cookbook cabinet today and pulled a few gems out for ya’ll. :) Thought I would do a giveaway contest. Winner gets every book in the bunch! You MUST have quirky cookbooks. They are so fun to read.

Up for grabs is:

Sunset Fresh Ways With Chicken (so many odd pictures in this one.)

Step By Step Microwave Cooking With Kids (Oh My GOSH…hilarious.)

Cooking For Kids “Winning Recipes” (hot dog shaped like an octopus anyone?)

Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook (This is the original printing in a new book. Kinda fun. I use my old grease splattered one more.)

In the Kitchen The Costco Way (Fun, fresh recipes in this one, really. Nothing quirky about it, now that I think about it…but a great book.)

Justin Wilson’s Cook Book. (Written in a cajun accent. SO FUN to read.)

Just look at this guy. You have to have this in your kitchen. The candles on his table alone are worth owning the book.

And last but not least, the little one on the bottom that is made with a typewriter and bound together with ribbon. I think its called The Cookie Jar. It has a great recipe called “aggression cookies”. I have two, otherwise I wouldn’t surrender it.

How to play:

Nikki, let me know how you’d like to arrange to get your book. I suspect delivering it or meeting you somewhere might be cheaper than mailing it to you. ;) LOL!!

Thank you all for participating. :) Cant wait to try all of your amazing lookin’ recipes. :)

Adventures in contests!

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Things have been a little slow around here, so I thought I’d spice things up a bit. :)

I was unpacking and discovered that I have 2 copies of “deceptively delicious” …the cookbook that teaches you how to sneak veggies and fruits into your kids’ food. It is written by Jerry Sienfeld’s wife. Pretty good book, and definately LOTS of good ideas, but I dont need two copies ya’ll. ;) Both of my copies are in gently used condition, so while its not new, I figure someone might be willing to participate in a little contest in order to win a copy of this fab book. :)

So here’s the deal. Leave me a comment here with your favorite fall recipe. You can either leave the recipe in the comment, or link to a blog post of yours w/the recipe in it. :) I’ll randomly pick a winner next Friday. :)

I really love DeNiece’s blog. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I am finally linking it! She’s got a really cute giveaway going right now…and you can learn all about it here.

Take a look at her daily videos. She’s got a lot of great recipes and tips. I can’t wait to try her baked oatmeal. ;)

Hey, so here’s a before and after for you!

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

As I was cleaning my dining room, and dusting my piano the other day, I noticed that the vintage ice bucket I had on top of the piano had leaked water (that I didnt know was even in it) onto my piano!! Check out THIS white ring people…I’ve never seen one like it!

Wanna know how to make these awful stains go away!?

Put a towel down on the spot, and place an iron over it on low-medium heat, WITHOUT steam:

Run it over the spot over and over until it begins to dry up. Unless it has penetrated the finish, it should come up. I have NO idea how long that stain had been there, but it could have been 2 weeks or more as that is when I put the ice bucket there. I was surprised it came out as well as it did!! You can still see where the ring was, but after some furniture polish (I use orange glo by the way), it was pretty darn good:

So now you know…and knowing is half the battle. ;)

Enter the “before and after” photo contest!

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

So here’s our March photo contest:

Take a “before” pic of a project…then take the “after” picture as well, and send em’ both to me. The most impressive transformation will receive a goody box of some of my favorite cleaning products and supplies. :) Ingredients to make my laundry soap will be included in the box. :D

Contest will run through March to give you time to get your spring cleaning started (and finished!)

Here’s my before and after to get you goin’. :)

I scrubbed my fireplace down last night using a soot remover that I picked up at the hardware store. :) It’s for glass and/or masonry.

I dont have a great shot of the fireplace before, but here’s what it looked like when we moved in. You really couldnt even see through the glass in most places, and note the soot on the brick:

and here’s the after, complete with a clear shot of all the ashes and wood in the fireplace. :P

Not perfect, but a vast improvement, no?

And the winner is….

Nikki, with the pic of her son baking. I love how focused he is, lol…he means business!!! I’m also pretty sure his cookie cutter is upside down, which makes this pic even better. ;)

Thanks for participating!!
