Tricky Tuesday 3/23/10

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Weird day. Woke up cloudy headed and frustrated. My house is a disaster…I hate moving.

Boxes everywhere, laundry without a home,  not enough stuff packed, but yet the thing I need most always seems to be in a box. taped up. stacked in the living room….bottom of the stack of course.  I dont care how many bloggers say they can move in an organized fashion. Its the pits, and its not easy. Maybe said bloggers didnt have to use THIRTY gallons of paint on their new house before moving in, making their current living quarters a cross between a rest stop and a dumping ground.

Two more days, and moving begins. By Saturday, Lord willing, it will be over. Whats wonderful about this move? It will hopefully be our last one. This is our first home that we OWN…and our hope is that it is our last home for quite a while. By Saturday night, I’ll be surrounded in boxes stacked to the ceiling…but they will be in MY home. By Saturday, I’ll be exhausted, sore, and probably overwhelmed, but I’ll be able to rest in my new bedroom or spa tub. By Saturday I may not be able to find that one thing I really need, but I’ll have all the time in the world to find it.

Perhaps, by Saturday, my grease-burned fingers will have healed enough to not need the bandages and gel packs in order to go through boxes. *sigh*

Hopefully, by Saturday, the pain from having to sell our little pup will have subsided as we enjoy the company of the neighbors dogs that seem to love us so much.

And without a doubt, on Saturday, we’ll have a moment to take a deep breath and know that we’re on our way in this new adventure.

Christmas is coming…the goose is getting fat!

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Sorry, I cant ever just say “Christmas is coming” without that muppets song popping into my head.

I’m having so much fun coming up with gifts for the kids this year. We definately are not going overboard, but I ahve managed to find some really perfect presents for the kids so far. :)

So far, I have the following:

Gavin:

*Noise cancelling headphones. Not audio headphones, although they look like it. These dont have speakers…just headphones to cancel out the noise of his sisters, primarily. He is very audio sensitive, and I think these will be perfect for him to have a sense of peace. ;)

*Chronicles of Narnia book about relating it to the Bible

*Treasure Island (the book)

Trinity:

*slippers

*”Princess” necklace that will be from Daddy

*Little house on the prairie cookbook

Piper:

* slippers

* “Princess” necklace that will be from Daddy

* Marmee’s kitchen primer cookbook of her own. :) Now each girl will have one. :)

The hubs and I are going to be on the huntdown for each of their “big gifts”, and maybe a couple more little presents.  I think Gavin will get a cd walkman (Or whatever they are called now), and a cd or two. I’d also like to find him some slippers, and *maybe* a parakeet friend for his bird Eli. We’ll see about that one.

Trinity will likely get a few new outfits, and maybe some new sneakers. I also want to get her the Francesca Batistelli CD.

As for Piper, I’m thinking of sneakers for her too, and maybe the Britt Nicole CD. :) She really needs a few articles of clothing, but we’ll see what I find.

The hubs and I are celebrating our 11th anniversary just six days before Christmas as well. We already exchanged presents as we will be at his best friend’s wedding on our anniversary. I think its really sweet that his best friend of 30 years is getting married the same day we did. Total accident too. :) Pretty neat. :)

It is really easy to get caught up in the excitement of Christmas and go overboard. I’ve done it before. The kids will have many things under the tree, but each thing was picked carefully based on what they need, and everything was on sale. :) (I got the little house cookbook brand new for 6.00!)  I dont take issue with presents, although I know some do. I do take issue with the over-commercialism of Christmas, and the lack of reverance for The Reason for the holiday.  Praise God for the birth of His son…even if it wasnt on December 25th. ;)

Speedy quick update!!

Just a few things:

We are moved in, still unpacking some, but mostly settled. Love the new place and the lack of a commute for the hubs. (Heidi, we moved to “the city”! Once I know my phone number I’ll pass it on to you!!!)

Homeschooling started up today, officially anyway. Going well, takes a lot longer to teach three this year, but so worth it. The wee one is super duper fun to teach because Kindergarteners are simply amazing.

Lost a few pounds somehow. I honestly think its the juicer. The kefir and kombucha cant hurt either.

Had some sad news in our family, prayers for comfort and peace would be great, especially for the hubs and his family.

A homeschooling group I really wanted to be a part of found an opening for our family, and the kids start Thursday. I am so excited, you have no idea.

My kombucha scoby grew to an enormous size, and then had to be dumped when I discovered ants in it the other day while moving the rest of our stuff out of the “old” house. I’m growin’ a new one as I type. Hooray for Whole foods being down the street and having a bazillion brands and flavors of Kombucha. :)

Awesome discovery: Beets juiced into your favorite juiced beverage makes it taste and look amazing.

Oh! I’m pretty sure swine flu has made it into our home. Finally starting to feel better, but its been a really tough 3 or 4 days for us. Poor Trin is still struggling a bit, but much better today than yesterday. Piper and the Hubs have been skipped, and I’m claiming in the name of JESUS that they are not going to get it. Really important stuff on Thursday and Friday this week. They CANT get sick. End of story.

I’m sure there’s more, but literature calls. Gave the kids a wee break, but its back to business now! Hooray for back to school time. :)

Remind me that I said that when its May and I’m ready for summer. ;)

Miss Kate, the next member of the fam!

Monday, June 15th, 2009

I went to my brother’s future wife’s bridal shower yesterday. :) It was a surprise party, and I’d say she was surprised. Her reaction was SO cute. I love that girl!

A little about Miss Kate:

1.) She’s a fashion designer, and has a clothing line. Her website is www.scissorclothing.com You can see last year’s line there, and her latest line just came out on Friday. Hopefully she’ll get some pics of those pieces up soon. :)

2.) She is adorable.

3.) She loves my kids and treats them really well. Trinity thinks she is fabulous because Miss Kate always calls her “Darling”.

4.) She has a really pretty smile.

5.) She is going to make a beautiful bride in a dress she’s making herself.

6.) She can paint. She painted the cutest piece of Art for my brother’s birthday (or was it Christmas?) I cant remember, but she made a painting of Tyler dressed as the kid from “Where the wild things are”, herself as one of the monsters, and their dog was even in the scene. Its pretty amazing.

7.) Purple is her favorite color.

8.) She has a really cute sense of humor. I like that she gets my jokes even though no one else does.

9.) She has flawless skin.

10.) She is going to make an AMAZING sister in-law!
